Walk in Chinatown
Day 288 – San Francisco, USA
I spent a productive morning doing laundry. Not glamorous but necessary!
But as the day was half nice after that, I went out again, and decided to walk in Chinatown. I had briefly crossed the neighbourhood in my hop-on, hop-off bus, but this time I wanted to take my time and wander at my leisure.
Even in a Sunday, many shops are open -especially the gift/trinket shops aimed at tourists, strangely enough!
I enjoyed some of the buildings, wandered a few shops, took pictures of a few murals.
San Francisco – Chinatown
And then, while checking on my map app my surroundings, I saw the Golden Gate bakery, which I knew by name because it was recommanded by a character in one of the books I like to read that takes place in San Francisco. (I have a lot of theoretical knowledge of foreign cities through the books I read, and sometimes, they match with the reality. And I may have re-read a few of my favorites taking place in San Francisco just to be able to place them.)
So, curious, I went there… to see that from the line in front of the shop, the fiction used the reality! I quick search on internet confirmed that it is a sought-after bakery. But I didn’t fell like queuing for products I had no idea about, so my curiosity stopped there.
I ended up walking back to the sea front instead of taking the bus back, so it was a very footsore tourist that came back to her place that night!
You will find the pictures of Chinatown at the end of the San Francisco Gallery.
Encore de belles peintures murales! Mais une ville plus américaine que chinoise…au moins d’après les photos!
