Churches in Quito
Day 264 – Quito, Ecuador
I started my stay in Quito in the historical centre. Colonial buildings, churches everywhere… I’ve been walking quite a few streets.
But at some point it was time to start visiting the inside of buildings.
I started with two churches, the most interesting of which I couldn’t take pictures of. The Church of the Society of Jesus is apparently well-known, and its inside explains why. If it can be gilded, it is, and if it cannot, it is painted.
It is difficult for me to enjoy after the more… sober stone walls of our churches.
It rained so I was nicely soaked through, but I still made a quick stop at an ATM… and found my handbag’s zippers open a few minutes later. Fortunately for me the pickpocket was crowding me and I felt something, so she hadn’t had the time to take my wallet.
Not the best experience of the trip.
