Day 238 – San Pedro de Atacama
Have you noticed onboard airplanes how your water bottle majes a pshht sound when you open it, or your inflatable pillow is fuller than on the ground?
Well here it’s the same thing. New bottles make a distinct pshht sound, and the ball of the deodorant jumps out of its hold. That what surprising when I arrived at this altitude! Fortunately once the pressure has equalized it doesn’t happen again.
I am awaiting confirmation from my agency that Saturday I leave for the Salar de Uyuni tour. This 3 day tour takes one across the border to Bolivia, in the plateau behind the Andes, at around 3,000m. There we will tour several coloured lakes, hot pools, special viewpoints, and the salt flats around Uyuni, the final destination.
Accomodation should be spartan, though we are supposed to have wi-fi in the hostel -I won’t count on it.
If all goes as planed, I’ll arrive at Uyuni Monday afternoon, in time to take a night bus to La Paz (or maybe straight to Copacabana). So again, few chances to update my blog! And I don’t know yet where/if I will buy a local SIM with data. As I will stay a relatively short time in Bolivia, it might not be worth it.
I will let you know soon!
On te souhaite donc un chouette tour dans le désert salé ( ou devrais-je dire le lac de sel?) J’espère que tu verras des flamands roses, et j’espère aussi une photo de ma fille sur le lac de sel!
A bientôt!
