Day 202 (I think) – Easter Island, Chile
Oh, the joys of taking a plane at 3am, being served a full meal at 4am, and landing after 6 hours (or was it five?) at 1pm local time.
Well, when I say 1pm, I’m not so sure, because that’s what my booking said, but my boarding pass implied 2pm, and when my phone synchronised, it said 3pm.
So, what time is it? I’m still not sure, as it took me the rest of the day, the night (and this morning, but shush, I’m pretending to be yesterday) to realise that my phone gives me Santiago’s time. Having a sunset at 11pm did give me a big clue. Now, Easter Island is 3 hours behind Santiago, but only two in Summer. I’m deciding that Summer is already here, so I suspect that I did indeed land at 1pm.
But I’m not sure.
There is no Wi-Fi in my house, so I’m in a free Wi-Fi zone in a public park. Yeah \o/ Fortunately, my host showed it to me when he picked me up from the airport.
Now I’ve slept the day away, was awake most of the night, got a half-night sleep, and we are in the morning of day 203 (I think), were I’m dashing these few words before going to find an ATM, a sim card with data, and maybe the tourist office. Probably in that order.
(My host has a doctor appointment in Santiago if I understood right, so he isn’t here to help me, of course I still don’t speak Spanish, and I can’t yet write him an e-mail as he suggested if I have a question because duh, no internet. But I’ll manage!)
At least I have my ticket for the entrance to the different national parks and their Moai. I don’t know how I’ll get there, but that’s next.
