Day 136 – Sydney, Australia

First, I got to say that nobody replaced the French flopping fish on the upper bunk bed, and I slept so well last night…!

So a combination of new gear testing, cheap transport, and stubbornness took me again today to the Blue Mountains.

I knew it would be raining, and that I would get aching limbs, and still I went. I must be daft in the head.

I got the promised rain, and the accompanying puddles were laying in wait on the trails. I really got to test if my shoes were water proof, and if my new woollen hiking socks would keep my feet dry. (If they were wet, at least they were warm.)

My windbreaker also got a good workout. I’m still not sure how to stop the hood from fallen down to my nose, as it doesn’t have a cord allowing one to shorten its depth. So I can look at my feet, tilt my head back, or kinda squeeze it halfway up the head so it sticks into my hoodie’s hood and then the hoodie gets wet.

My reward for this outing was the magnificent Bridal Veil Falls, were the creek falls over its cliff in a widening spray… creating the illusion of a widening veil.

There were several lookouts, from just the top of the falls to the cliffs on each side, so I have plenty of pictures at different angles, as well as pictures of the valley that opens in front of the falls. I was also lucky enough to see a rainbow!

The pictures are in the Blue Mountains gallery.

So tonight I’m all stiff and sore, so surprising!

And tomorrow, I -hopefully- leaves the cold and the rain behind to fly to the Fiji Islands.
