Lanterns
Day 21 – Hoi An, Vietnam
After the final fittings (Hoi An is reputed for its cheap, custom-made clothes, and I took advantage of it), I made my way after nightfall to the riverbank.
The lanterns are lit everywhere, and it’s magical. On the river, small rowing boats take tourists on a short tour to launch a floating candle on the water before coming back ashore.
I launched my own before trying for some pictures on the bank later, but it’s difficult.
The other pictures can be found in the gallery “Hoi An – old town and riverbank”.
The day after, I had to go to the post office before taking my bus for Hue. Having new clothes doesn’t mean that I can take them all with me…! But when I told the family, they said not to worry, as they would call the post office to have someone come and take the parcel for me. And indeed a lady came with her scale and made me pay the postage and took the parcel away. So practical…
And after an uneventful bus trip, I arrived in Hue.
