Lovina Beach – 2
Day 84 – Lovina Beach, Indonesia
Today’s fashion is pants bought in Malaysia, top custom-made in Vietnam, and headscarf bought in Cambodia. I don’t have a mirror to check the complete outfit, but at least the top and the pants are coordinated.
I started my day with… I already forgot, but I think that just means that my morning was quiet. Ah yes, I remember, the staff wanted to clean my room so I went to tidy up a bit: having nothing to hang clothes on to dry them (towel, swimsuit, etc) means that I spread quite a few things on the floor.
Later on I went for a swim, once again by myself in the pool, that’s kind of sweet.
I realized today, counting the days, that they are numbered here in Bali: I leave my BnB on the 25th and my plane fly off the 30th -and since it is an early morning flight, it rather means that my last day is the 29th. How time flies.
Today was also the last day I rented my scooter, which is just as well, as I enter the phase where I feel just enough confident to try bigger things with it, and it’s maybe not the right setting for that. I went for a ride to the beach, looking for an ATM and maybe a new sarong with colours brighter than the one at Jogyakarta.
I bought two, probably too dearly, but I also should get a new top at my size ready tomorrow at a lower price that compensate their high price. So I’m happy on the whole. (And they are very pretty.)
I got back at 7pm on time to hand back my scooter, but the lady wasn’t there, and I waited half an hour in vain.
Driving around, you really see the differences. The trees growing on the side of the road are palm trees; the fields, more often than not, are flat square parcels, flooded to grow rice; the flowers are bigger, richer, more lush. Here on Bali, small temples or altars dot the countryside, appearing in the middle of fields, in front of houses, and clothed in a checked sarong. Some trees sport the same piece of clothes, I want to guess that they are seen as religiously significant.

Tomorrow is my last full day here, so I’ll have to think on what I want to do. There are a few places not far I have seen while driving that I wished I had stopped to snap pictures of, maybe I’ll go around and do that.
