Yogyakarta
Day 68 – Yogyakarta
I left Jakarta this morning for Yogyakarta. It is on the southern coast of Java, whereas Jakarta is on the northern coast (and a farther West).
I took a train, in the executive class, quite luxurious. I paid 21€ my ticket for an 8-hour journey, I love Asia.
I had the luck to read the account of a traveller before taking the trip, so I knew to be wary of the AC… with was warranted, as with my sweatshirt, scarf and headscarf I huddled in the cold. A snug blanket would have been welcomed.
But everything went well, I grabbed a (ah ah) Grab car to get to my hostel, and arrived in due time. (Grab is the Asian version of Uber.)
The temperature here is almost cool, in the low twenties, it is so good after the heat of Malaysia. Jakarta was warmer than here but still very enjoyable. A fellow hostel guest (from East Java) explained that they are getting a winter wind from Australia.
The hostel has a fluffy dog, playful, with a belled collar. He is always in motion so I don’t have yet a good picture of him.
I went out in search of diner and went for a mystery meal, rice with spices and chicken, and chai tea, I think. Something hot, milky, sweet and with cloves.
I took the picture of the mosque above while out hunting diner.
That concludes my first hours here!
J’espère que tu n’auras pas un rhume demain!
J’ai trouvé Yogyakarta sur la carte marqué comme “territoire spécial”: sais-tu pourquoi?
J’attends avec joie de déouvrir par tes yeux cette ville!
Glad that you were not near to the earthquake area ! Enjoy Yogyakarta and stay safe
