Happy New Year!
Day 215 – Valparaiso, Chile
Happy New Year everybody!
I took advantage of the quiet of a morning after a big party to visit the open-air museum, a specific section of Valparaiso known for its murals.
The morning after was a great idea, lack-of-people-wise. Not so great, spilled-beer-and-other-unnamable-liquids-wise. Just have to occasionally plug your nose and watch your step.
So I left the quiet but boring neighbourhood where my hotel is for a small, steep and vividly painted hillside one.

Valparaiso – Mural
I did try to take the “ascensor”, a ubiquitous cable-car service that allows local and tourists alike to get up the hills at low effort. But apparently they are not running on he January 1st, what a surprise. So I was left to the joys of the stairs. Let’s say that I got my daily exercise, and more.

Valparaiso – View over the city
And then I wandered in the small streets, taking pictures here and there of the murals that pleased me. My favourite, unsurprisingly, is the one featured above (I liked to colourful bird). But if you take a look at the gallery, you will see that there are many mores -and that’s without taking into account the houses that are simply painted in one colour, brightening the streets.

Valparaiso – Cat and goldfish
I wandered a fair bit, then came back for lunch -in the middle of the afternoon. The rest of the day was pretty quiet.
And I’m almost out of battery for my laptop, so I’ll conclude this now!
Ces peintures sont parmi les plus jolies, je suis d’accord! Quelle variété!
