Slow days
Day 131 – Sydney, Australia
So I’m still not doing much of my days. I’ve switched hostel, because I chose the first one for its easy parking and quiet, and the second one for its proximity to the centre of the city.
My luggage
From left to right: the green grocery bag contains my groceries; the blue shoulder bag has stuff like detergent, empty water bottles, my stash of tissues, creams; my black cross-shoulder bag is my handbag; and my blue backpack has some new attachments: trekking poles in the red oblong bag, shoes in the black bag, and my day backpack is more or less rolled on the right.
Hopefully by the time I leave for the Fiji Islands, the food will be eaten, I’ll stash what I can from the blue bag into my backpack and the rest into the smaller daypack, stash the handbag into the day backpack, and cross my fingers that the trekking poles will stay attached to the backpack during the plane travel. (They don’t go into the cabin.)
Today was also a laundry day, and I’m proud to have had dry clothes to fold back into their place.
I went for a quiet afternoon to the Botanic Gardens (didn’t do a twofer with the Art Gallery of New South Wales, but it was close), where I mostly sat on a bench and read.
I got a quick out of the sundial in the shape of an astrolabe (or is it a giant astrolabe used as a sundial? Picture above), with a ring of common kitchen herbs. So you will see many pictures of said ring in my gallery, ignore them at will.

After that, I made a quick visit to the seaside to get a glimpse of the bridge, the opera house and some buildings by night.

I may or may not have bought an enormous cup of ice cream to eat on the seafront. I won’t tell if you won’t!f
The hostel has turned its roof into an outdoor area, complete with false grass and picnic tables. It’s of course the smoking area, but if I can get a table well placed, I like to hang out there. The other common area has a TV… and it seems, rugby games every night!
