Happy Father’s Day
Day 94 – Katherine, Australia
The high point of my day was seeing all the “Father’s Day” signs at the supermarket.
I took the Greyhound this morning (arriving 2 hours in advance, I had really nothing better to do) to Katherine.
There isn’t much to do in the city itself, which is sprawling, so going anywhere is complicated, but there are gorges a few kilometers that are reputed. One is supposed to go canoeing in them.
Since I’m not prepared for that, I’ll more modestly probably try to go to the hot springs. Which, since it’s hot outside, might not be such a fresh idea.
Arriving at my hostel is frustrating, since the address given in the booking app is not the right one, and it took me a few minutes to find it, after turning around in the afternoon sun.
Then the office was closed though it wasn’t supposed to be. My key was in a safe outside it and I had the code, but still, I had questions.
So I dropped my stuff, met my dormitory mate, who apparently was with me at the same hostel in Darwin a few days ago (I didn’t recognize her, but she knew me), and went to the supermarket to stock on carrots (no freezing this time) and pears.
We will see what the next day will bring.
